There followed a number of emails back and forth discussing details of both vehicles and trade-in allowance. I was quickly comfortable with Dave’s honesty and plain dealing, and I finally told Dave we had a deal. Dave pulled the Ebay listing immediately and we found a date for me to travel to East Windsor to pick up the car. I had to move the date up twice, and each time Dave accommodated the change and had to set aside other work to do some brake work he felt was necessary to get it ready in time.
The paperwork was all ready when I arrived and the transaction went very smoothly. There was no quibbling over the trade-in offer, and my new car was immaculate. Even though the Audi warranty had expired, Dave promptly covered some minor work that my local Audi dealer felt was necessary after I got the car home.
All in all, I was delighted with the transaction, especially considering the long distance involved, and it’s pretty clear that North Bay runs a clean operation. The Allroad runs like a top and I’m very pleased to have found North Bay. I would certainly check there for another Audi before going to any of the nearby Audi dealers.

Ontario, CanadaRegarding cost, if you’re looking at importing into Ontario, take the US $ price and add 25-27%:
Start with US Price. Add 5% for currency conversion, then 6.1% for import duty, and another 6% for the federal Goods and Services tax. Add another 8% for provincial sales tax. On top of that there’s probably $1000 in misc costs (travel, Canada Customs import fee, etc.).
That’s your total cash outlay to get the car on the road. By my calculations, I saved at least $5000, and probably closer to $7000 by buying American.
Anyway, I’m really happy with the car. It’s even cleaner than the dealer’s photos suggested, and it has four brand new tires and new brakes front and rear. The interior is immaculate and every feature, function, and accessory works perfectly. With respect to road manners, I’m loving it. The car has plenty of power, handles beautifully, and rides very nicely (better than I hoped for, given that it rolls on 18’s with 35 profile rubber).
Finally, I can’t say enough good things about Dave and Mike at North Bay Imports. They were total straight-shooters, and the whole deal was conducted professionally and painlessly. They sell lots of cars to Canadians, and know all the paperwork and processes involved with exportation.

helped me maintain the budget limitation I had as a first-time buyer.
Not only do I have a vehicle that I adore, but a sales and service team that I can depend on for the road to come."
Marlton, NJIt has been two weeks since I first made contact with you at North Bay Imports. Reflecting back, I decided to add to your growing number of testimonials. I had utilized Cars.com to help in my quest for “just the right” Audi A4. Of course, that is where I found my 2008 A4 and your dealership. As my friends and family already understand, when it comes to cars, I do quite a bit of research then the actual search takes place. It’s never been unusual for me to travel over an hour to purchase what I am looking for. Though I never thought I would go the two hundred twenty miles necessary in this case.
Boy am I glad I did.
From our initial phone conversation through to the call I made on my way home when I realized I left a personal belonging in my trade, I was treated with the care and respect I had never found with any local car dealer here in Southern New Jersey. I’m not going out on a limb when I state that the whole experience was a pleasure. In fact, it was fun. Finding the car I was looking for was easy with your abundant inventory of Audi’s. Price was just a brief portion of our conversation. And where I thought a trade-in would have become a problem, you assured me you would try to get a reasonable amount for it by calling other dealers in your area. And you did. In fact, you made the purchase so easy that I actually enjoyed the three plus hour trip on a Friday night with the purchase on Saturday morning.
Not only did the car look, feel and run like just like you promised, but an added plus was all the looks I (the car) got on the way home.
I know my Brother-in-law is looking for an Audi as well and if he hasn’t contacted you as yet, he will be shortly. He has asked if I would go up with him and of course I will.
Lastly, Thank You,
Steve T.
Fairfax Station, VAI just wanted to say that you and your firm, North Bay Imports are a credit to your industry. Being a first time buyer to purchasing a vehicle over the internet, 400 miles away, was an anxious experience for me, to say the least.
As a partner in a firm myself, we all know that anyone is easy to do business with when things are good, and if the price is the lowest for the buyer. The real questions is what happens IF there is a problem, or when things go wrong. When unforeseen problems occur the couple % difference in price is nothing, and you get what you pay for.
When I purchased the car from you a few weeks ago, your price was very competitive, but I also liked the fact your references were all good. I would have never thought in a hundred years that the problem we had , could or would occur, but it did. I’d like to detail to for you my positive experience with you as a result of the problem.
After sending my money to North Bay, I patiently waited a week for the vehicle, an Audi A8L to be delivered to me. It arrived on a Friday evening and as soon as I walked up to the car, I saw a 2 foot long scratch as well as several other scratches. All of the pictures I viewed online, as well as the ones sent to me individually, showed a flawless vehicle. Needless to say, I was extremely unhappy, and questioned why I bought a vehicle from over 400 miles away, because now I was on my own, so I thought.
I called you and was immediately assured that it would be taken care of, because when the car left your lot, it was in fact in flawless condition. Long story short, it turned out that the trucking company damaged the car in transit, and while only cosmetic, you said that you stand behind every vehicle you sell. I went home, told my wife, and she said, “You have a problem because you are so far away, and most dealers will not help in a situation like this.”
The following morning at 9am, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from you stating, “take the car to the local Audi dealer/collision center, and get it fixed.” I replied, “Say again? Just take it and get it fixed? This looks like several thousand dollars worth of paint work.” You said again, “Take it and get it fixed, whatever it takes to make it right, I will do it because I stand behind every vehicle I sell.”
Over the next two weeks, we had several conversations, and you did exactly what you said you would. You took care of all, as well as returned all my phone calls when I had questions. I can’t think of anyone out there who wouldn’t want to be treated like this. The great news is the cosmetic work came out fine, and now I am 100% satisfied. As I said, neither of us could have ever foreseen the issue we had, because it was neither of our faults. As business people, typically we only hear from people who are unhappy, but I thought you deserved to know how pleased I am now, and you are a credit to your industry. I would hope that anyone who reads this will see firsthand your character and integrity. Best of luck, and I won’t hesitate to refer friends and family of mine to you in the future.
Sincerely,
Doug Crowe
