What is Certified?

A certified car is one that goes through a rigorous inspection outlined by the manufacturer.  Depending on the manufacturer, the inspection can range anywhere from an 80 point inspection to an over 300 point inspection.  Anything that is faulty during the inspection is then repaired or replaced.  This ensures the car is as close to new mechanically as possible.  Then what most dealers do is add a "certified" warranty to the vehicle.  They tell you it is included at no charge, but each certified vehicle is marked up additional money to compensate the dealer who then pays the manufacturer for the warranty.  It is NOT free.  So when a dealer tells you the warranty is included at no charge on their certified vehicles, you can rest assured you are paying for it in the price of the vehicle.  Another thing most dealers tell you is that the warranty is "bumper to bumper", which is far from the truth.  They are limited warranties that leave a lot of components out of coverage.

At North Bay Imports, we use the same mechanical certified checklist given out by the manufacturer.  The difference between us and any Audi or VW dealer is that we do not mark up the car a few thousand extra dollars and "include" the warranty.  We use certified technicians to complete the checklist, then give you the choice of whether or not to purchase an extended warranty.  The warranties we do offer cover many more components that the manufacturer's "limited" warranty.  If you have any questions regarding our certification process, feel free to contact one of our sales associates.
